In a remarkable move that touches on some of today’s most pressing issues, Pope Leo XIV has unveiled his intentions for prayer in 2027. This announcement invites individuals and communities within the Church to reflect and pray on a diverse range of themes that resonate with both global challenges and internal Church matters.
The prayer intentions were formally entrusted to the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network during an audience on Friday morning. Following this meeting, Fr. Cristóbal Fones, the International Director of the Network, emphasized the urgency of fostering genuine connections in our fast-paced world. He stated that the mission of the Prayer Network is to address our collective need for robust connections not only with God but also with ourselves and others in our lives.
Here's a detailed look at Pope Leo's prayer intentions for each month of 2027:
JANUARY
That the power of prayer might be discovered. Let us come together in prayer that all members of the Church recognize the transformative potential of prayer as a personal encounter with the Lord, capable of changing our hearts and impacting the world around us.
FEBRUARY
That those who care for others might receive care. We pray that individuals devoted to nurturing the well-being of others receive the necessary support for their own holistic health. May they find the patience, wisdom, and courage to facilitate pathways toward healing and hope in those they assist.
MARCH
That the dignity of human life might be respected. Let us beseech that in a society often fixated on productivity and immediate outcomes, we can rediscover and cherish the inherent dignity of every person—both in ourselves and in others.
APRIL
That art might be a gift that humanizes. Together, let us pray that art is recognized as a precious gift that enriches our humanity, uplifts our spirits, and allows us to reflect on the divine beauty present in creation.
MAY
That there be job opportunities for everyone. May we pray that advancements in technology pave the way for dignified employment opportunities, fostering intergenerational teamwork that ensures everyone can contribute their unique talents for the common good.
JUNE
For the good use of artificial intelligence. Let us pray that artificial intelligence is developed responsibly, always prioritizing human dignity, and that we learn to harness its capabilities wisely.
JULY
For grandparents and the elderly. We pray that the Church consistently acknowledges the invaluable faith and wisdom bestowed upon us by our grandparents and elders, and that we remain eager to learn from their life experiences.
AUGUST
For the vocation of young people. Let us pray that young individuals searching for their purpose may find in Jesus Christ a companion on their journey, one to whom they can open their hearts.
SEPTEMBER
For integral ecological conversion. May we pray for a renewed understanding of our relationship with creation, advocating for its protection with justice. In doing so, we hope to discover a more harmonious and grateful way of living.
OCTOBER
For Christian communities. Let us pray that every parish, community, or Christian group becomes a beacon of missionary outreach, dedicated to forming new disciples committed to the Gospel's message.
NOVEMBER
For the integration of migrants. We pray that, supported and comforted by the Holy Family during their own journeys of dislocation, migrants and displaced individuals might find welcoming communities that embrace them with dignity, solidarity, and true integration.
DECEMBER
For the Christian vocation of the family. Let us pray that Christian families become authentic witnesses of the Gospel within society, growing increasingly adept at nurturing faith, hope, and love within their homes.
